Lester C. Harvey Dies in Lunenburg County After Bear Falls from Tree; No Charges Filed
Dec 17, 2024, 09:03 PM
Lester C. Harvey, a 58-year-old self-employed contractor and avid outdoorsman from Virginia, died after a bear, shot by one of his hunting partners, fell from a tree and landed on him on December 9 in Lunenburg County, located between Richmond and Danville. The hunting group was following the bear when it climbed a tree, and as they retreated, a hunter shot the bear, causing it to fall onto Harvey, who was standing approximately 10 feet from the base of the tree. Harvey was rushed to two different hospitals but succumbed to his injuries on December 13. He is survived by his wife, five children, and eight grandchildren. The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources reported the incident but is not seeking charges related to the accident.
