Azerbaijan Airlines Plane with 72 Aboard Crashes in Kazakhstan; Survivors Reported

An Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer ERJ-190 passenger plane, Flight 8432 from Baku to Grozny, crashed near Aktau in Kazakhstan after reportedly requesting an emergency landing. The plane, which circled the airport before the crash, was carrying 72 people, including 67 passengers—60 of whom were Russian citizens—and 5 crew members. Preliminary data suggests there are survivors, with Kazakhstan's Health Minister Alnazarova reporting that six to ten people have survived. The crash may have been caused by a collision with a flock of birds. Emergency services are on the scene, and a fire has broken out at the crash site.
