In a televised speech, Qassem described the loss as a 'minor detail' and emphasized the resistance's flexibility, suggesting that new routes could be found or the new Syrian leadership might reopen the supply line. He stated that Hezbollah would not judge Syria's new rulers until the country's situation stabilizes and they take clear positions. Qassem affirmed that the Syrian people have the right to choose their government, constitution, and options. He also expressed hope that the new Syrian government would consider Israel an enemy and refrain from normalizing relations. Additionally, he called for the new leadership in Syria to include all parties and forces in governance.
