Bolsonaro Requests Passport from STF to Attend Trump's Inauguration on January 20
Jan 11, 2025, 03:29 PM
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has formally requested the Supreme Federal Court (STF) of Brazil to authorize the return of his passport, which was seized in February 2024, so he can attend the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on January 20. Bolsonaro's defense team submitted a petition to STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes, arguing that the event is of significant historical and diplomatic importance. However, Moraes has asked Bolsonaro's lawyers to provide an official document proving the invitation to Trump's inauguration, as the initial submission included an email sent to Bolsonaro's son, Eduardo Bolsonaro, from an unidentified sender, info@t47inaugural.com. The minister has stated that before making a decision, he will send the request to the Attorney General's Office for their opinion.
