Nov 6, 2024, 12:01 PM
Missouri voters have narrowly approved Amendment 2, legalizing sports betting in the state. With 3,243 of 3,572 precincts reporting, the Missouri Secretary of State's office showed Amendment 2 leading by a margin of 50.7% to 49.3%. Missouri becomes the 39th state to allow sports betting, with 68% of the US population now living in a state where sports betting is legal. The new law permits professional sports teams to open betting locations near stadiums and launch branded platforms. The approval came despite significant opposition spending, and the final margin was just 14,000 votes. The launch of sports betting in Missouri is expected by the start of the football season.
