U.S. Lawmakers Urge SEC to Approve Spot Ethereum ETFs, Politico Reports
May 23, 2024, 01:02 PM
A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers, including Majority Whip Tom Emmer and New Jersey Democrat Josh Gottheimer, has urged the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to approve spot Ethereum ETFs. The lawmakers sent a letter to SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, advocating for the approval of these ETFs to provide investors with regulated, transparent, and safe access to digital assets. The push comes as the SEC is expected to make a decision soon, with Gensler advising observers to 'stay tuned.' The approval of spot Ethereum ETFs would align with the treatment of Bitcoin ETFs, which have already been approved. Politico reports that the letter also mentioned other digital assets.
