Bipartisan U.S. Lawmakers Urge SEC to Approve Spot Ethereum ETFs: Politico
May 23, 2024, 12:30 PM
A bipartisan group of U.S. House lawmakers, including Majority Whip Tom Emmer and New Jersey Democrat Josh Gottheimer, has urged SEC Chair Gary Gensler to approve spot Ethereum ETFs. The lawmakers, led by Rep. French Hill and including five members of the House Financial Services Committee, argue that the approval would provide investors with access to cryptocurrencies in a regulated and transparent format. This push follows the SEC's previous approval of Bitcoin funds, and the legislators believe similar approval for Ethereum ETFs is warranted. The letter to Gensler highlights the importance of offering regulated investment options for digital assets. The report was first covered by Politico.
