Schumer Invites Projected Winner McCormick to Senate Orientation as Casey Refuses to Concede
Nov 12, 2024, 02:11 PM
Dave McCormick, the Republican candidate in Pennsylvania, has been projected by the Associated Press as the winner of the U.S. Senate race against incumbent Democrat Bob Casey, holding a lead of approximately 0.5% with 98% of votes reported. Despite the AP's projection made two days ago, Senator Casey has refused to concede, citing more than 100,000 outstanding provisional ballots in counties favorable to him. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer initially declined to invite McCormick to the Senate orientation due to the unresolved race. Under pressure, Schumer reversed his stance and extended an invitation to McCormick, as well as to Democratic Senator-elect Ruben Gallego. McCormick attended the orientation, expressing his eagerness to represent Pennsylvania. Casey continues to await the final count of votes before conceding.
