Alejandro Mayorkas, the outgoing U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary, has suggested that the Biden-Harris administration hindered his efforts to secure the southern border. In recent statements, Mayorkas indicated that there were disagreements within the administration about the correct policies and operational measures for border security, and that decisions were made which he had to follow. Despite these claims, Mayorkas had previously stated in multiple press conferences that the southern border was secure.
