Israel Strikes Hezbollah Targets in Tyre and Beirut Suburbs After Evacuating Residents
Oct 23, 2024, 05:49 AM
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have issued evacuation orders to residents in southern Lebanon, including areas in the southern suburbs of Beirut and specific neighborhoods in the city of Tyre such as Al-Hiram, Jaafar Sharaf Al-Din, Abu Deeb, and Al-Athar Streets. The IDF's Arabic-language spokesman, Col. Avichay Adraee, warned civilians to evacuate immediately ahead of planned military operations targeting Hezbollah's infrastructure and funding operations in these regions. Residents were urged to move north of the Awali River for their safety. Following the evacuation orders, Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on Tyre and surrounding areas, aiming at Hezbollah sites. Tyre, the fifth largest city in Lebanon and one of the oldest in the world, is densely populated and has been hosting thousands of displaced Lebanese seeking refuge from ongoing conflicts. The airstrikes mark a significant escalation in tensions between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
