Jets Trade DE Franklin-Myers to Broncos, Saves $7.3M, Gains 2026 6th-Round Pick
Apr 27, 2024, 07:07 PM
The New York Jets have traded defensive end John Franklin-Myers to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round draft pick. This move, confirmed by multiple sources, allows the Jets to save $7.3 million and manage their salary cap more effectively. Franklin-Myers, who has a base salary of $13.3 million for 2024, with only $3.184 million guaranteed, is expected to restructure his contract with the Broncos. He has agreed to a new two-year deal with Denver, which will pay him less than his previous contract but includes a significant amount of guaranteed money. The trade is seen as a salary dump by the Jets, who have also recently acquired Haason Reddick. Franklin-Myers, who started 50 games over the past three seasons with the Jets, accumulating 19.5 sacks, is contracted through 2025. The Jets will take on $9.056 million of dead cap due to this transaction.
