The Sacramento Kings and head coach Mike Brown have agreed to a three-year, $30 million contract extension through the 2026-27 season. Brown, who was named the 2022-2023 NBA Coach of the Year, will receive a base salary of $8.5 million per season, with potential bonuses that could increase his earnings to $10 million annually. The agreement follows a period of negotiations where the Kings initially offered a three-year, $21 million extension, which Brown did not accept. Brown has significantly impacted the Kings, leading them to their first playoff appearance in 16 years and securing 46 wins this season. This extension makes Brown the first Kings coach since Rick Adelman to earn a contract extension in Sacramento. Brown will also receive a $4 million raise for the 2024-2025 season.
