Trudeau Liberals Ban 324 Firearm Types, Propose Donation to Ukraine
Dec 5, 2024, 10:03 PM
The Canadian government, under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has announced the addition of 324 more 'assault-style firearms' to the country's banned firearms list. Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc stated that these firearms can no longer be legally used, sold, or imported in Canada, and can only be transferred or transported under extremely limited circumstances. This move follows a previous ban of over 1,500 makes and models of firearms in May 2020, which expanded to over 2,000 by November 2024. The government is also considering donating these banned firearms to Ukraine as part of their support in the ongoing conflict with Russia. The announcement comes as part of the government's broader gun control efforts, with LeBlanc citing the need to honor victims of mass shootings.
