Study Shows IgG Transfer from Long Covid Patients Induces Autoimmune Symptoms in Mice
Jun 1, 2024, 03:22 PM
Recent studies have shown that transferring IgG antibodies from Long Covid patients to mice induces symptoms similar to those seen in human patients. These symptoms include pronounced and persistent sensory hypersensitivity and reduced locomotor activity without affecting motor coordination. The findings suggest a strong indication of autoimmunity in Long Covid. The study highlights the importance of the patient cohort, as the symptoms were replicated in mice using antibodies from patients in a Long Covid clinic. The symptoms in mice were related to the human plasma proteomic signature.
