Zelensky Says North Korea Joins Russia's War Effort as South Korea Monitors Possible Troop Deployment
Oct 16, 2024, 10:16 AM
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused North Korea of providing military support to Russia in its ongoing war against Ukraine, stating that Pyongyang is supplying weapons and personnel, including troops and workers for Russian factories. Speaking in parliament, Zelensky warned that North Korea has effectively joined the "coalition of criminals alongside Putin." He also mentioned that intelligence reports document not only transfers of weapons but also the transfer of people. South Korea's Defense Ministry announced that it is closely monitoring reports of North Korea's involvement and is concerned about the possibility of North Korean troops being deployed to Ukraine. There are indications that should North Korean troops be sent to the front lines, South Korea may respond by providing direct military aid to Ukraine. The growing alliance between Moscow and the secretive state of North Korea, led by Kim Jong Un, has raised international concerns over the escalation of the conflict.
