Rome's Trevi Fountain Reopens With 400 Visitor Limit After 3-Month, 327,000 Euro Restoration
Dec 22, 2024, 05:10 PM
Rome's iconic Trevi Fountain has reopened to the public following a three-month restoration project costing 327,000 euros, in preparation for the upcoming Jubilee year. The fountain, a baroque masterpiece and one of the most visited sites in the city, will now allow access to 400 visitors at a time to manage crowds. Rome's Mayor Roberto Gualtieri inaugurated the fountain, emphasizing the aim to enhance visitor experience without overcrowding. The city is considering the introduction of a small entry fee in the future to help fund the maintenance of the fountain. The restoration work was part of a broader effort to prepare Rome's monuments for the influx of pilgrims and tourists expected during the Jubilee, which begins on December 24.
