Houthi Hatem-2 Missile Strikes Tel Aviv, Shrapnel Injures 5 in Modi'in; Nine Injured in Shelters
Sep 15, 2024, 05:17 AM
A ballistic missile launched by Houthi forces in Yemen struck Tel Aviv on Sunday morning, penetrating Israeli air defenses and traveling approximately 2,000 kilometers in 15 minutes. The missile hit a vital facility around 6:30 am, causing sirens to blare across central Israel. Despite attempts by the Israeli Air Defense Systems, including the Arrow system, to intercept the Hatem-2 missile, shrapnel from an interceptor missile fell on a train station in the city of Modi'in, injuring five people. Nine others were lightly injured while rushing to shelters. The Israeli Army’s Arabic spokesman, Avichay Adraee, confirmed the missile's origin from Yemen. This incident follows a previous Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv. No injuries were reported from the missile strike itself.
