Israel Strikes Houthi Targets in Yemen's Hodeidah Port After Attacks on Tel Aviv
Sep 29, 2024, 02:54 PM
Israel has carried out a series of airstrikes targeting Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, specifically in the port city of Hodeidah and Ras Issa. The Israeli Air Force deployed dozens of aircraft, including fighter jets, refueling planes, and intelligence planes, under the direction of the IDF Intelligence Directorate, to strike military facilities used by the Houthi movement approximately 1,800 kilometers from Israel. The targeted sites included power plants, oil reservoirs, and the port of Hodeidah, which is a critical entry point for humanitarian aid and imports into Yemen. The airstrikes were conducted in retaliation for multiple missile attacks launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels against Israel over the past 10 days, including attacks that targeted Tel Aviv. The Houthi movement has reportedly fired missiles at central Israel in support of Palestinians in Gaza. The Israeli Defense Forces confirmed the operation, stating that it was an extensive, intelligence-based aerial operation aimed at disrupting Houthi terror infrastructure.
