Ukraine Reaffirms Crimea and Sevastopol's Status, No Compromises Amid UN Mandate Suggestion
Sep 20, 2024, 07:12 AM
Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reiterated that Crimea is an integral part of Ukraine and its territorial integrity is non-negotiable. This statement comes in response to a controversial suggestion by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski that the peninsula could be transferred to a UN mandate. The Ukrainian MFA emphasized that the full de-occupation of Ukraine, including Crimea and Sevastopol, is crucial for European security and expects continued support from its partners. The Kremlin dismissed the idea of transferring Crimea under a UN mandate as absurd, with spokesman Dmitry Peskov asserting that Russian regions cannot be the subject of such discussions.
