Defending Champion Jannik Sinner Advances in Beijing China Open Amid WADA Appeal
Sep 28, 2024, 08:03 AM
World No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner defeated Nicolas Jarry of Chile 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to advance in the China Open in Beijing. This victory marked his 12th consecutive win. Additionally, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has lodged an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport regarding Sinner’s doping case, seeking a period of ineligibility between 1 to 2 years, despite an independent tribunal finding him to bear ‘no fault or negligence.’ In another match, Roman Safiullin took the first set 6-3 against Sinner.
