GM Halts Cruise Robotaxi Funding, Shifts to Consumer Autonomous Vehicles

General Motors (GM) has decided to halt the development of its self-driving taxi service, Cruise, and will instead focus its resources on developing autonomous vehicle technology for consumer vehicles. The decision to end funding for the Cruise division was influenced by a grisly crash involving one of its vehicles in San Francisco last year, which led to significant challenges for the company.
