Five WV Girls Banned from Shot Put for Protesting Trans Athlete; Lawsuit Filed
May 2, 2024, 09:32 PM
Five middle school girls from Lincoln Middle School in West Virginia have been banned from future sports competitions after refusing to compete against a transgender athlete in a shot put event, which the transgender athlete eventually won. The girls protested by stepping in and out of the shot put circle, effectively disqualifying themselves. The Harrison County Board of Education made the decision, which has led to a lawsuit filed by the parents of four of the five students. West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has also initiated legal action against the school board in response to the ban. The girls are now banned from the next track and field meet.
