Japan to Deploy Robot to Remove Melted Radioactive Fuel from Fukushima Daiichi
May 28, 2024, 07:20 PM
Japan is set to deploy a new robot to remove melted nuclear fuel from the destroyed Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The operator of the plant demonstrated on Tuesday how the remote-controlled robot would retrieve tiny bits of melted radioactive fuel debris. This initiative marks a significant step in the ongoing cleanup efforts at the site, which was severely damaged by a tsunami in 2011.
