Odisha Police Accused of Assaulting and Sexually Assaulting Army Officer and Fiancée, Five Officers Suspended

An Indian Army officer and his fiancée have alleged that they were assaulted and harassed by police officers at Bharatpur Police Station in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The incident reportedly occurred after the couple went to the police station to file a complaint following a road rage altercation. The fiancée has claimed she was physically and sexually assaulted, including being tied up, kicked, and molested by police personnel. The medical report details her injuries, including nasal bleed, bruises, and abrasions. In response, the Odisha Police have transferred the case to the Crime Branch CID and suspended five police officers involved in the incident. The Odisha DGP has ordered a detailed investigation, and the National Commission for Women has demanded action. Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has called for a judicial inquiry into the incident.
