Reeves, struck down the Biden Administration's attempt to redefine Title IX to include gender identity, vacating the rule nationwide. In the case of State of Tennessee v. Cardona, the court ruled that the administration overstepped its authority by broadening the definition of 'sex' in Title IX to include 'gender identity'. The judge described the rule as 'arbitrary and capricious'. The decision reverses the expansion of protections for LGBTQ+ students and prohibits biological males from participating in women's sports and accessing women-only spaces such as locker rooms and bathrooms. The ruling affirms that Title IX protections are based on biological sex.
