Young Thug Pleads Guilty in RICO Case, Faces Up to 45 Years in Prison
Oct 31, 2024, 08:50 PM
Atlanta rapper Young Thug, whose legal name is Jeffery Williams, has accepted a plea deal in the long-running RICO trial in Georgia, bringing an end to his role in the state's longest-ever trial. On October 31, Young Thug pleaded no contest to racketeering conspiracy and participation in a street gang in a leadership role, and pleaded guilty to three drug charges and two gun charges. He entered a non-negotiated plea, meaning the judge will decide his sentence, which could be up to 45 years with 25 years to serve in custody, as recommended by the state. His attorney stated that Young Thug could have been released on probation today if he had agreed to the initial deal, but he refused to testify and did not agree to the release conditions. Several of his co-defendants, including Rodalius "Lil Rod" Ryan and Marquavius "Quay" Huey, accepted plea deals earlier in the week.
