Yamandú Orsi Wins Uruguay Presidency with 51.19%, Defeats Álvaro Delgado, Left Returns to Power

Yamandú Orsi, the candidate from the left-wing Frente Amplio party, has won the presidential election in Uruguay with 51.19% of the votes. Orsi defeated center-right candidate Álvaro Delgado, who conceded defeat and congratulated Orsi on his victory. This marks the return of the Frente Amplio to power after five years. The election saw a high voter turnout of approximately 89.4%. Orsi, a protégé of former president José "Pepe" Mujica, will serve alongside his vice president-elect, Carolina Cosse. Current president Luis Lacalle Pou also extended his congratulations to Orsi. Orsi delivered a victory speech celebrating his win.
