His victory marks the return of the left to power in the country. Orsi, alongside his vice president-elect Carolina Cosse, defeated conservative candidate Álvaro Delgado, who conceded defeat and acknowledged Orsi's win. Voter turnout was reported at 89.4%, according to local media citing data from the Electoral Court. Current President Luis Lacalle Pou congratulated Orsi on his victory. Orsi, considered a protégé of former President José Mujica, delivered a victory speech to his supporters following the announcement.
