White Sox to Hire Rangers' Will Venable as Manager After 41-121 Season
Oct 29, 2024, 07:01 PM
The Chicago White Sox are set to hire Will Venable as their new manager, according to multiple reports, with Scott Merkin first reporting the news. Venable, who turned 42 today, was serving as the associate manager for the Texas Rangers and has six years of coaching experience with the Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, and Rangers. He had been a finalist for managerial positions with both the White Sox and the Miami Marlins but chose to accept the White Sox's offer. Venable has previously turned down several managerial opportunities and will become the 44th manager in White Sox franchise history. He inherits a team that set a franchise record with a 41-121 loss record in the previous season. The White Sox have not officially commented on the hiring.
