CAS Rules Against U.S. Gymnastics Appeal; IOC Confirms Medal Reallocation
Aug 11, 2024, 07:58 PM
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled against an appeal by U.S. gymnastics coach Cecile Landi, which sought to add 0.1 to Jordan Chiles' score, arguing the appeal was made outside the one-minute window. However, USA Gymnastics has since submitted new evidence to CAS, showing that the inquiry was made 47 seconds after the score was posted, within the allowed time frame. Additionally, a second statement was submitted 55 seconds after. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed the reallocation of the medal less than 24 hours after the CAS decision. USA Gymnastics did not have this video evidence available before the tribunal's decision.
