Jordan Chiles May Lose Olympic Bronze After CAS Ruling on Late Appeal, Scores 13.666
Aug 10, 2024, 05:33 PM
Jordan Chiles, an American gymnast, may lose her bronze medal in the floor exercise at the 2024 Paris Olympics after a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The CAS determined that the inquiry into her score, which elevated her to a score of 13.766 and into the bronze medal position, was submitted four seconds late, exceeding the one-minute deadline for such appeals. As a result, her original score of 13.666 is to be reinstated. The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) will determine the final rankings and medal allocations following this decision. The appeal was initially raised by Romania, leading to the CAS ruling.
