Ukrainian Officials Report Russian Missile Crossed Romanian Airspace on December 25 Amid Massive Attack, Says Maia Sandu
Dec 25, 2024, 11:20 AM
Ukrainian officials have reported that a Russian missile crossed into Romanian airspace after passing through Moldova during a large-scale attack on Ukraine on December 25. The Romanian Ministry of National Defense (MApN) has stated that it has not confirmed the missile's passage through its airspace. Moldova's President Maia Sandu confirmed the violation of her country's airspace, stating that the missile was targeting Ukraine. The Moldovan Border Police also indicated that the missile was observed crossing into Romania, although Romanian authorities have denied any detection of such an incursion. The conflicting reports highlight a lack of coordination among Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova regarding airspace monitoring during the ongoing conflict. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga emphasized that the missile's trajectory poses a threat not only to Ukraine but also to NATO member Romania.
