Biden's Final $500 Million Ukraine Aid Includes Air Defense Missiles, F-16 Support Ahead of Trump Inauguration
Jan 9, 2025, 12:24 PM
Eleven days before President Donald Trump's inauguration, the Biden administration has announced its final military aid package to Ukraine, valued at $500 million. The package includes missiles for air defense, such as AIM-7, RIM-7, and AIM-9M, air-to-ground munitions, equipment to support F-16 fighter jets, armored bridging systems, secure communications equipment, and small arms. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin made the announcement at Ramstein Air Base in Germany during a meeting with Ukraine's Defense Minister, where he hosted his final Ukraine Defense Contact Group gathering with representatives from about 50 allied nations. This brings the total security assistance under the Biden administration to approximately $65 billion, with $3.8 billion in unused funds remaining for the incoming administration.
