US Army Private Travis King, who fled to North Korea last year, has pleaded guilty to five charges, including desertion, assault, and disobeying a lawful order. King, who expressed dissatisfaction with his work, was sentenced to one year of confinement and dishonorable discharge. Due to time already served, King is now free. The court martial hearing was held at Fort Bliss, Texas. King fled to North Korea in July 2023.
