Travis King, a U.S. Army private who ran across the border from South Korea to North Korea in July 2023, pleaded guilty to desertion and other charges at a general court-martial hearing held at Fort Bliss, Texas. King, who stated he was dissatisfied with work, was sentenced to one year of confinement and a dishonorable discharge. However, he was released based on time already served.
