A Chinese female tourist in her 20s was rescued after being swept out to sea while swimming at a beach in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The woman drifted for 36 hours with a swim ring, covering a distance of 80 kilometers (50 miles) before being found near Chiba Prefecture on Wednesday morning. She was slightly dehydrated but otherwise in good health. The Japanese Coast Guard launched a search operation after her friend reported her missing. The woman was eventually pulled out of the ocean by a crew from an LPG tanker and airlifted to safety near Tokyo.
