Sep 25, 2024, 06:50 PM
Tigran Gambaryan, an ex-U.S. federal agent and current Binance compliance officer, has been detained in Nigeria since February 2024 on money laundering charges. His health is reportedly deteriorating rapidly. The U.S. Congress Foreign Affairs Committee has passed a resolution urging Nigeria to immediately release Gambaryan, who has been in custody for more than six months. Binance is demanding his release before engaging in discussions with Nigerian authorities regarding crypto regulations and ongoing legal disputes. The resolution also calls for the U.S. government to declare him a priority.
