C.D.C. Survey Finds 3.3% of U.S. High School Students Identify as Transgender in 2023
Oct 8, 2024, 11:50 PM
A first-of-its-kind survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (C.D.C.) has found that 3.3% of U.S. high school students identified as transgender in 2023, with another 2.2% questioning their gender identity. The survey also highlighted high rates of sadness, bullying, and suicide attempts among transgender and gender-questioning teenagers. This data contrasts sharply with historical estimates, such as those in the DSM-IV, which placed the prevalence of transsexualism at 1 out of every 30,000 males and 100,000 females.
