The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has announced that it thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian intelligence to hijack a Tu-22M3 strategic nuclear bomber. According to the FSB, Ukrainian special services attempted to recruit the Russian pilot, offering him $2 million or $3 million and Italian citizenship in exchange for defecting with the aircraft. The FSB claims that the operation was successfully prevented, and the pilot did not defect.
