Suspected Boko Haram Militants Kill 37 in Yobe State; ISWAP Claims Responsibility
Sep 3, 2024, 11:00 AM
Suspected Boko Haram militants have killed at least 37 people in a series of attacks in northeastern Nigeria. The militants, riding motorcycles, opened fire on a market and set shops and homes ablaze in a village in Yobe State. The Nigerian military has evacuated the corpses of the victims. The death toll could rise as villagers are still missing and feared dead after being chased into the bush. ISWAP has claimed responsibility for the massacre, stating that the village was punished for aiding the Nigerian military. In Mafa Community, residents plan a mass burial after militants burned several houses.
