Ukraine's Defence Intelligence Directorate (GUR) reported that on December 31, 2024, special unit 'Group 13' of the Ukrainian forces shot down a Russian Mi-8 helicopter using a Magura V5 naval drone equipped with R-73 "SeeDragon" missiles near Cape Tarkhankut in occupied Crimea. This marks the first recorded instance of a naval drone destroying an aerial target. Another Russian Mi-8 helicopter was damaged but managed to return to its base.
