The court's decision provides relief to Shivakumar in the disproportionate and illegal assets case. The state government, led by the Congress party, had previously withdrawn the consent granted by the former BS Yediyurappa government for the CBI investigation and transferred the case to the Lokayukta. DK Shivakumar expressed satisfaction with the High Court verdict, calling it a victory for the Karnataka government and its people. The division bench of the High Court maintained the government's decision.
