Karnataka HC Dismisses CBI Plea in Illegal Assets Case, Relief for DK Shivakumar
Aug 29, 2024, 01:00 PM
The Karnataka High Court has dismissed petitions filed by the CBI and BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal challenging the Karnataka government's decision to withdraw consent for a CBI probe into corruption allegations against Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. The court's decision provides relief to Shivakumar in the disproportionate and illegal assets case. The state government, led by the Congress party, had previously withdrawn the consent granted by the former BS Yediyurappa government for the CBI investigation and transferred the case to the Lokayukta. DK Shivakumar expressed satisfaction with the High Court verdict, calling it a victory for the Karnataka government and its people. The division bench of the High Court maintained the government's decision.
