Japanese Foreign Minister Requests Safety Measures After Child's Stabbing Death in Shenzhen
Sep 20, 2024, 04:40 AM
Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa has expressed deep regret over the death of a Japanese child in China. The incident occurred in Shenzhen, where a 10-year-old Japanese schoolboy was fatally stabbed. Kamikawa has strongly requested China to take all possible measures to ensure the safety of Japanese nationals. The Japanese embassy in China has also called for increased security following the attack. Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi also expressed deep regret over the incident. On September 19, Kamikawa held an extraordinary press conference addressing the situation. Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lin Jian described the incident as an individual case, stating that similar cases may happen in any country. Chinese residents in Tokyo held a memorial for the boy, while fears rise about the impact on Japan-China relations.
