Kamikawa has strongly requested China to take all possible measures to ensure the safety of Japanese nationals. The Japanese embassy in China has also called for increased security following the attack. Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi also expressed deep regret over the incident. On September 19, Kamikawa held an extraordinary press conference addressing the situation.
