Ukraine Sends 500 Tons of Wheat Flour to Syria, Supporting 33,250 Families Under Humanitarian Program
Dec 27, 2024, 11:07 AM
Ukraine has dispatched 500 tons of wheat flour to Syria as part of its 'Grain from Ukraine' humanitarian program, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on December 27, 2024. This initiative, in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP), aims to support approximately 33,250 Syrian families, translating to around 167,000 individuals. Each 15 kg bag of flour is designed to sustain a family of five for a month. Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine's commitment to aiding the Syrian people during this critical time, stating, 'We wish Syria and its people safety, stability, and recovery.' The shipment comes in the wake of the recent political changes in Syria, following the ouster of the Russian-backed government, and represents Ukraine's efforts to build diplomatic ties with the nation.
