EU Demands Algorithm Documents from Elon Musk's X by February 15 Amid Far-Right Support Concerns

The European Union has expanded its investigation into Elon Musk's social media platform X, demanding internal documents related to its recommendation algorithms. The EU Commission has set a deadline of February 15 for X to comply with the request for documentation on its systems of recommendations and any recent changes made to them. Additionally, the Commission has issued a retention order requiring X to preserve internal documents and information regarding future changes to its algorithms from January 17, 2025, to December 31, 2025, unless the investigation concludes earlier. The investigation, which began in December 2023, is part of the EU's efforts to ensure compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA), amid concerns over the spread of disinformation and manipulation of public discourse in Europe. The EU's actions follow Musk's recent interventions in European politics, particularly his support for far-right figures in Germany and Britain.
