California AG Rob Bonta Sues Catholic Hospital for Denying Emergency Abortion to Miscarrying Patient
Sep 30, 2024, 08:00 PM
California Attorney General Rob Bonta has filed a lawsuit against a Catholic hospital, alleging that it denied emergency abortion care to pregnant patients experiencing miscarriages and other life-threatening emergencies. The lawsuit claims that in a February incident, the hospital refused to provide an emergency abortion to a woman whose water broke prematurely, causing her to miscarry and bleed profusely. The woman was forced to travel to another hospital while in excruciating pain and worried she would bleed out, putting her at risk of potentially life-threatening infection and hemorrhage.
