The Texas Longhorns have ascended to the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 college football poll for the first time since Oct. 26, 2008. Texas received 35 first-place votes, surpassing Georgia, which received 23 votes and now holds the No. 2 position. Ohio State, Alabama, and Ole Miss round out the top five. This marks the 45th time since 1940 that Texas has been ranked No. 1 in the AP poll. The Longhorns' rise comes after a series of strong performances, positioning them as serious contenders for the national championship. The updated AP Top 25 for Week 4 also features six SEC teams in the top seven, highlighting the conference's dominance in college football. Texas is 22 points ahead of Georgia in the rankings.
