The Texas Longhorns have ascended to the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 college football poll for the first time since Oct. 26, 2008. Texas received 35 first-place votes, surpassing Georgia, which received 23 votes and now holds the No. 2 position. Ohio State, Alabama, and Ole Miss round out the top five. This marks the 45th time since 1940 that Texas has been ranked No. 1 in the AP poll. The Longhorns' rise comes after a series of strong performances, positioning them as serious contenders for the national championship.
